Hey there,
I bought this wooden tool box at Round Top weekend before last. I love the red color and, as you can see, it's a great way to store my stamps and ink pads. Other than the blazingly hot weather, the shopping trip was festive and successful!

Fall
Happy Fall Y'all! Headed to Round Top, TX this weekend to hunt for collage treasures. Hope the weather cooperates and that it will actual feel like Fall! Last weekend I went to a nice indoor antique show in Richardson, TX. I found some really great things including a pack of tarot cards from the 1940s. I can't wait to use them in a project. Going to these shows is helping me develop an "eye" for collage materials.

Button Button Who has the Button?
Hey there!
I love this picture...a perfect example of the successufal man of the '50s! I found the button card, with buttons attached, at Easy Pickins; an antique store in Cold Spring, TX. For some reason it reminds me of my mom's sewing box filled with extra buttons accumulated over the years. Rather than use the original card for this collage, and in the spirit of recycling, I made a color photocopy so that I can use it in future projects. I added some of the original buttons and a threaded needle to complete the "sewing-on-a-button theme.

By the Crystal Sea
Hey there!
To celebrate the start of football season (both collegiate and professional) we grilled a big batch of wings the other night. We ate them with blue cheese dressing and celery on the side. When I was cutting the celery I realized it might make a good stamp. I experimented with the ends and also the back side (not the side you would stuff). Actually, I liked the look of the back side better; which is what I used to create the background of By the Crystal Sea. Good meal, good football, good idea...can't beat it! See you soon! -Lisa

Inspiration.1
Hey there!
I was in Austin, TX recently and visited one of my favorite shops. Uncommon Objects located on South Congress (which, by the way, is directly across the street from Hey Cupcake) is simply...wonderful. It's loaded with the kinds of "stuff" that will make a collage artist's heart sing! The owners have a knack for arranging their goods in a truly artistic way. Even if I don't buy anything I'm always inspired by what I see. I've included the link to the store here as well as a video tour. (Note: I apologize for the "commercial" that sometimes precedes this video. Also, the video was not recently posted but it still gives you a very good overview of the store.) Enjoy!
